Newstien April 2010 - Sydney Comedy Festival!

Sydney Comedy Festival is go! The third in my triptych of Australian comedy festivals kicks off on Tuesday with a spot at the Parade Theatre gala, alongside such superfriends as Fiona O'Loughlin, Eddie Ifft and The Kransky Sisters.

Then The Philosophy Show goes for the next four nights. Am currently trying to track down a pair of cheap Greek columns for set dressing. If you have any ideas, please drop me a line.

Whostien?

"intelligent and funny, laid back and engaging ... here's a comic who knows how to craft a strong line onto any topic - and with the smarts to ensure he's covering ground few others have trodden"
Steve Bennett, chortle.co.uk

This is the website for Dave Bloustien: award-winning comedy writer, grand-champion improvisor, lover, fighter, candlestick-maker, amateur sleuth, and professional derring-doer.

Outside of his own head, Dave is actually part of the award-winning writing team on Ten's Good News Week. He also wrote for ABCTV's The Glass House, The Side Show, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Great Debates and more.

As a stand-up comedian and improvisor, he's performed in comedy festivals in five out of six states, as well as in London, San Francisco, Zambia and beyond.

Most recently, Dave performed at the Moosehead benefit in the Melbourne Town Hall, and his team played at the Theatresports Nationals at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney.

"A prolific gagster, using jokes where others would use a full stop ... let it be said in print: Dave Bloustien is funny"
The Age

Aside from a few secret writing projects, his current projects include: The Social Contract (the true story of Dave's little sojourn to court), Puppy Fight (a no-bars-held impro rumble with Jon Williams, Cale Bain and DJ Tom Lowndes) and, of course, Good News Week.

Incidentally, while he's loving being independent, Dave's also come to the realisation that he's a bit crap at taking care of his own admin and advancing his career. So if you're a comedy agent or manager looking to incorporate some amusing smarts into your comedy pants, please drop him a line.

"endlessly hilarious ... side-splitting ... an absolute must see for all those looking for something a little bit different"

And while you're on the interweb, why not join Dave's unabashedly self-serving Facebook group as well?

Mmm. The computer is your friend.
